Did Someone Else Ever Finish A Game Before You Had The Chance To Beat?
For most of our childhood, the Nintendo was a few miles away, at our grandparents' house.
The 90's brought the end of the NES era and the dawning of new consoles. Which brought in many old NES cartridges into our hands, cheap.
The day our grandfather bought the NES, he'd bought Metal Gear. Years later, however, we picked up the at-that-time only available sequel: Snake's Revenge.
We lived two blocks away, and summer break had just started, so we figured we'd have it won before too long. Snake's Revenge is a one-player game, so my brother and I were tag-teaming on it, using eachother's passwords.
End Game:
I had my shot at glory. I had the control, had defeated the next-to-last boss - let's just say it was...ugly, and was now face to face with the Metal Gear. The stakes were high (at least that's what the message said three screens earlier, something about Tokyo, New York, and Moscow), and I was ready to blow the walking tank sky-high.
But, I couldn't reach it. The grenades did nothing. The missiles weren't going through.
My first attempt with the final boss, and I'd fallen short.
Real life kicked in, and I had to go mow the lawn.
---------------------------
My brother found me...maybe half-an-hour later.
"I won the game."
"How'd you do it?"
He told me what I'd missed...gave me a quick description of the end of the game...
I laughed...then I went back to finishing the lawn. I knew the next time I got there, I'd be punching in that password, going through those last couple floors, and seeing that final sequence myself.
Did someone else ever finish a game before you had the chance to beat it?

My brother.
All the time.
Always took my data and beat the game =/
I was at school
yeah & i always want to punch them in the face for not having a life.
@lolquack@xanga - same here..
@wolvenchic@xanga - Brothers suck =(
No. Never. I play it right through until it's done, obsessing until it's over. And then the boy and I play through it again.
yes, and I hate it...it completely ruins the entire experience it's like running up a stairway to heaven, then being tripped back down to the bottom...and then I can never play it again
Haha, yeah... actually. When my brother gets a new game he doesn't like me playing them until he's beat them.
As a general rule, he can kick my ass in multiplayer but he has no chance at keeping up with me in campaign modes.
My sister does this to me constantly. More recently, she beat Silent Hill Homecoming, Resident Evil 5, and Bioshock before me. That angered me greatly... She only accomplishes this because she hogs the PS3 and refuses to let me on until she's almost beaten the game. By then it's already too late at night for me to get very far without falling asleep with a controller in my hands. Then while I'm sleeping, she goes on again and beats it before I even wake up.
Watch me be the first person to figure out how to strangle someone with a wireless PS3 controller...
No, but it took me a week to get my roommate to tell me the ending of Resident Evil 5. I have a Wii and he had a PS3, so I couldn't play it fo rmyself. I was curious as to what happened to Jill, but he kept telling me that he "didn't remember." He's lame.
I usually do this for other people.
@infestedd - Too true. You totally ruined the Silent Hill games for me. You even beat the final boss for me!! Gah! i wanted to do it. :(
I got Kingdom Hearts months before my best friend... but he still beat it first. Ticked me off really. He did the same thing with Kingdom Hearts II.
I always beat the games for my brother since he starts it and doesnt have enough time to finish it. But I always create a new file and start from the very beginning and not continue from where he left off. Ive played and finished Star Fox Adventures, Zelda: Windwaker, Zelda: Twilight Princess for GC/Wii, and Zelda: Phanthom of the Hour Glass for DS. At a certain point my brother just told me to finish the games so he could seet he ending haha. I did what was told =P
I beat the final boss of some PC game I can't remember the name of right now.. OH! Neverwinter Nights.. Yes. my bf had tried but kept dying. When he found out that I beat it, it ruined the game for him. WTF lol
All the time. :'(
my brother usually picks up where i left off which is probably not so far from the start of the game
Ya my friend was always doing that. When he'd come over to my house sometimes he'd jump on my Halo profile and run through it on heroic like it was nothing. Of course I spent some of my time outside, when he was at home he was doing the same thing he did at my place.
Some games I did I have now 7 games that are not finished yet and purchased one that can be added to those seven I realise now I'm typing this. Aiks
anyway
2 on the dreamcast
2 on the Wii
and 3 on the PS3
