  • I Have To Admit... Xbox 360 Is The Best System Out Right Now

As many of you know, we just recently got an Xbox 360. Well, this isn't our first time having an Xbox 360. A few years ago we had one and a bunch of games but sold it and got a Playstation 3 instead, because we had to replace the 360 three different times in less than a year. We love the PS3, it's a great system.

About two years later, we decided to get a 360 again because we heard the "Red Ring of Death" became less of a problem and we put a warranty on our system so if anything happened we could just return it at Wal-Mart. The first thing I noticed once we fired up the Xbox 360 and updated it was a whole new layout on the screen.

It looks a lot cooler now and you get to create this cool avatar. It's similar to the Nintendo Wii's Miis, but these avatars have arms and hands and get to choose clothes as well as a bunch of other features.

Another great feature is the ability to stream movies to your 360 from Netflix, provided you're a Netflix subscriber and Xbox Live Gold Member. Needless to say, I love this feature. Windows Live Messenger is also built into Xbox 360. You can chat with your contacts alongside your Xbox 360 friends.

Plus, the online community is great. On most games for 360, I can easily find someone to play with. On PS3, it's sometimes a challenge to find people to play with. I think this is because Xbox 360 has a much larger audience.

As for the price, honestly, I think Xbox 360 is a little bit more. Wireless internet is not included on Xbox 360 and you also need to pay for Xbox Live once a year as well as the battery packs if you want chargeable wireless controllers.

The best part of Xbox 360, though, is how many games there are. There is a ton of demos you can try out as well as a bunch of Live Arcade games which are wicked fun. If PS3 would add more demos and more arcade-type casual games, and add the ability to play or stream music from your hard drive while you play any game, I could see them competing a lot better.

The last thing I love is the Achievements, which I believe every 360 game has. While PS3 has lagged badly behind in this regard and has just recently added Trophies to their games, it's only for mostly the newer games; a lot of developers won't patch older PS3 games with Trophies.

So, if you're looking to buy a new game system, look into getting a 360. Make sure you put a warranty on it, though, just in case.

Which do you think is the better buy, Xbox 360 or PS3? Why do you think so?

Only good for Halo and COD4. PS3 ftw.

  • forever_musing@xanga

Love my 360. Love love love it

  • shaggyglasses@xanga

i don't have it but planning on it however the games that are generally hyped are shooters which is the one genre i'm not a big fan of.

  • LynxMoomba@xanga

Yes, 360 is really great ... but it is only great for fps. I have yet to see anything else of quality come out of that thing. The PS3 has a biger variety, including some pretty amazing fps. It is more expensive, true, but that is because it is a bigger and better computer inside of a council system. The 360 is nice, I have to admit, but I still would rather go with PS3 and have my RPG.

  • TheMANinTHEyellowHAT@xanga

oh no.  did you really ask if people liked the ps3 or xbox 360?  that's just asking for a flame war between fanboy gangs.

personally, since i'm not a huge online gamer, i'd have to go with a ps3.  most of the good games that come out are on both platforms, and ps3 comes with a blu-ray player, built in wireless, and is free online.

Omg, yes I love my 360, for every reason you pointed out, I am absolutely addicted to achievements. The movie streaming is awesome and so convenient, and lets not get me started on all the casual games and DLC that live offers. We spend way too much money on Microsoft points! Our PS3 just sits and collects dust. I think console preference is all about the games you play, but still 360 has better features.

Even though the XBOX 360 is a better seller, the PS3 is a much better system. I have friends who own both and they prefer the PS3 over the 360. The graphics are much more impressive, the system doesn't break as much as the 360, and I guess for hardcore Sony fans, they always seem to impress us every time they upgrade. I like the 360, but if I had a chance to pick either one, I would go with the PS3.

I love my 360, mostly for the games on it. The exclusive Fallout 3 and GTA IV DLC are wonderful, plus I've got Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, Bioshock (at least a year in advance), Left 4 Dead, Mass Effect, Crackdown...

But frankly, I don't have an opinion on which console is better, since I have no experience with the PS3.

  • BoxesOfRoxes@xanga

In terms of quality, the PS3 wins that. With content, however, I think the 360 gets that one for all the above reasons.  Achievements even take the games you buy further and give them more replay value.
If I had the money, I'd get both systems!   But personally, the 360 is more appealing to me and the way that I game.

  • Takingthe38th@xanga

    For pure gaming - Yes
    Media - PS3
    Family - Wii

  • BaLob@xanga

the xbox is better in a sense you can copy games, though you have a chance to "brick" your system if you get caught

@LynxMoomba@xanga - xbox has been releasing pretty decent rpg's recently.

  • Pcgecko85@xanga

My favorite genres are FPS and RTS which both suck on 360.  I choose... PC

  • suggestivetongue@xanga

If I were to buy one it would be the xbox 360, I already have a regular xbox though and I don't play games enough to justify buying one.

  • Cameronie@xanga

    Xbox 360 for the win!
    hahaha.

  • FadEdMinD@xanga

This is an opinion..i guess..but being an avid PC gamer for awhile, looking at the 360 is a joke. The PS3 to me, offers a much better console experience, whereas the 360 usually have  dumbed down games.
Xbox 360 doesnt have many good games. Halo? HA that game is a joke of an FPS game. Halo Wars??? HAHAH are you kidding me, RTS on console?? no, just no... Gears of War 1? mm it was pretty good for co-op, and multiplayer. Gears of War 2? complete shit.
I cant really think of a game thats actually worth owning on the 360, except maybe Dead Rising, and/or Fable 2.
And the rest of the games aren't even that great.

Most people will say that the 360 is better because of the number of games the console has. But, does it really matter when majority of those games aren't that good? Games like Too Human, The Outfit, Americas Army (360 exclusive version), and many others to list aren't even worth owning. So whats the point of having tons of exclusive games that score below 70% on gamerankings.com or metacritic?

Another thing Xbots will argue is that the 360 has more JRPGs, while the PS3, a japanese console does not. Well, does that even matter when most of those RPGs are just average, and does not even seperate itself from JRPGs on the PS2? no, not really..The PS3 right now has White Knight Chronicles and Demon Souls ( both currently in Japan soon to be imported), Disgaea 3, and Valkyria Chronicles and all those games offer more than 360's JRPGs

Since last Fall of 2008, the 360 has not even released anything big. Maybe Fable 2, or Halo Wars..but does that even  compare to LBP, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Valkyria Chronicles, and soon to come out Infamous, Uncharted 2, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, White Knight Chronicles, and the recently announce Demon Souls domestic release??? Nope..

I'm not being a fanboy.. i have both 360 and PS3, and seeing that my 360  has been gathering dust because of the lack of good games makes me choose the PS3 as the better console, and service.

I dont know about you OP, but I have an easy time playing games with my friends, and even with Home, you can easily meet people to discuss and play games with..

You pay 50 dollars a year, or 7.99 a month just to video chat in low resolution? ..sorry the PS3 can offer video chat in HD for free..

However, the only pro side i see on the 360 and Live is netflix and the arcade games...other than that..theres nothing much to it

PS3 and PC gaming for me.

360 is obviously still the frontrunner based on sales.

  • Checkmass@xanga

I use to be a fanboy. I grew up and dropped that pointless carp.
I don't play as much as I use to. The games they are releasing are pure crap.

  • brianbsquared@xanga

Depending on the types of games, but if I'm gaming solo or with my brother, then its the 360 easy.  At party's though, there is no substitute for the Wii.

  • LynxMoomba@xanga

@FadEdMinD@xanga - You make some great points. I got a reply from someone saying that xbox has been releasing some RPGs, but I have tried to play then and have failed at finding the fun gaming or intricate/motivating story in any of them. Thank you for your input!

  • Dargon@xanga

I prefer 360 over PS3, but I still prefer the PC over either.

  • JaredLauten@xanga

PS3 all the way for me. It gives you much more bang for your buck. Built in Blu-Ray playback feature, movie/tv show dl service, free online play, built in Wi-fi. In contrast to the 360: DVD only, movie dl from netflix (requires 2 subscriptions. 1 for Live, and the other for Netflix), pay to play online, no wi-fi built in. The 360 has more games, but not all of them are better than the PS3's line-up. I could go on, but we all know which system puts out more power, too ;)

  • TakingxOverxMe@xanga

Eh..  I prefer PC gaming.  x__x

But then again, I haven't tried the Xbox or anything.

  • shiro_hayate@xanga

PS3. Exclusives (or lack of sadly) are much better. Less focused on FPS (white-boy smack talk games) which should've always stayed on the computer. And, all JRPGs suck on the 360 and/or go cross-platform.

AND! Because of my heavy focus @ JRPGs PS3 is the way to go. 360 doesn't sell for shit in Japan.

  • xchinkylaydee@xanga

ps3 does have a lot and i think its better. however, xbox 360 sounds good the way you described it, but it seems like you need to pay a lot to get it to be good.
