Final Boss Isn't That Hard... Or Is He?
Metal Gear (for the NES)Sirens blazing. Fortress self-destruct countdown in progress. After trudging through jungles, sneaking through buildings, avoiding pit traps, scorpions, bosses with flamethrowers, poison gas, deep water, and lasers, only one door separates you from *THE FINAL BOSS*.
(Open the door)
The final boss.
The obligatory monologue.
The obligatory smack talk at the end.
"DON'T THINK YOU CAN KILL ME SO EASILY!
COME AND TRY. IF I AM GOING TO DIE, YOU'RE COMING WITH ME!"And then, he hides behind a crate and fires a pistol at you?
WTF? No flamethrower? No cannon? No rocket launcher?
But while you're laughing at his choice of weaponry, there's a different problem. That "self-destruct countdown." His running to and fro. He'll move around the whole room... unlike any of the other bosses.
You laugh, but you've got less than two minutes to defeat him and escape.
Ever face a final boss that ended up being... disappointing? Or a final boss that was tougher to defeat than you first thought?

Final fantasy VIII one of the hardest final boss EVER.. like nearly impossible to win with 3 lvl 40-50 characters >.> I'm not one of those crazy people who grind to lvl 99 before fighting the last boss lol
Medal of Honor: Frontline had a disappointing last boss. All he did was jump around in a uniform and shoot an MP40 - it took one bazooka hit to kill him off (if you played easy), but still - no laser vision? No invisibility? Dang.
I did not have many games in those days. that might have been fun. I wonder if they will have it for the Wii. we did not have the money to spend to get a lot of games. I just had a saga for the longest time till N64 came out.
Diaper Man ... err ... Gill from Street Fighter III. He can resurrect himself.
@QuantumStorm@xanga - Medal of Honor: Frontline was just extremely disappointing in general.
Star Fox Adventures. At the end it is revealed that, once again, FUCKIN' ANDROSS is the boss, and you fight him just like in every other Star Fox game.
Twilight Princess had an exceptionally underwhelming boss fight, too -.-
It was rather neat, sort of. At first, anyway, then I realised it was just every boss fight from the game revisited, and then *************SPOILER****

*Zant is actually Ganondorf. OMFG, and it just sucked. Where it wasn't ridiculously easy it was filled with fake difficulty.
Final fantasy XII was very disappointing - Vayne had three incarnations and all you had to do was hit and heal hit and heal. I didn't even use any chain commands =/ And my characters were all level 50-2. Dull and anticlimatic ending too.
this is wonderful topic ... i will put acopy of this topic

Hm. I think the final boss of most Mario games is always a nice balance between challenge and fun.
How about Mike Tyson (or lame-ass Mr. Dream) in Punch Out for NES? Heck yeah.
Bioshock...the common enemies were probably more of a challenge to defeat. DX
FFVIII was sooo hard.
FFT wasn't that bad.
Ignoring RPG games... the hardest boss I reckon is Contra 3 Spirits boss... on hard difficulty. Those who played Contra 3 will know.
I found FFX boss pretty easy...was it Yu Yevon or something?
the final boss in resistance 2 was one of the dumbest boss battles i've ever fought. the fans deserved so much better.
@Dobserver@xanga - Yup... YuYevon, wasn't that bad of a boss if it wasn't for the break damage limit.
RPG :: I think the final boss from Xenosaga was pretty hard, I don't really remember tho.
Action :: Ninja Gaiden with your eyes closed
Driving :: the original midnight club...that last driver gave me a good challenge
Fighting :: Dead or Alive 3 deffinitly or Killer Instinct
Shooting:: maybe Resistance-FoM on superhuman?
I havn't faced a tough final boss in a while. Now-a-days it's all about optional bosses. Lets give the final boss 99,999 HP and lets give an optional boss 25 million. (in reference to FinalFantasyX) Why not? In my opinion it might be because just in case your not properly prepared and you get to the final boss only to find you can't beat them OR go back. So you get angry and smash your console against the wall. But with optional bosses you know they're powerful and ususally aren't in "un-getaway-from-able" places.
I'm playing the 2nd half of FF8 now , so from what I've read, hopefully I'll have some fun. If you want epic bosses and a pretty nice story, and if your chock full of patience I'd recommend StarOcean3 Till the End of Time.
The final boss in FFX was ridiculously easy -_-
@silentwhim@xanga - lol FFVIII had maxlvl 100 not 99 but I get your point ^^ I on the other hand am one of those ppl who grind to the max. I enjoy crushing the games, not only playing them through.
@Swirlingvortexofpurechaos@xanga - I love that game, but really, the bosses wasn't that hard. I'm playing Star ocean the seacond story right now lol and it's easy too
Baldur's Gate. I didn't have a problem with any fight on the way to Sarevok, not dying to anything but the occasional trap that I forgot to detect.
Then you get to Sarevok and his goons and....oy vey. Maybe it's easier with a Cleric casting Zone of Sweet Air, but I didn't have a cleric (played as a paladin, got the Khalid/Jahiera and Minsc/Dynaheir combos, plus Imoen Dual-Classed to a mage), and even when I beat the fight, I lost every character except my main, and Imoen, who only didn't die because she was terrored and ran away from the fight.
There have been a few games I can remember like that, but that's the one that jumps out at me.
@LaLunaHollow@xanga - Is that the one for the Playstation or the PSP? I never played them, only picked up SO3 on a whim.
@Swirlingvortexofpurechaos@xanga - yes, it was origonally made for the playstation but they rerealesed it on PSP. It's pretty fun, a two disc game where you get to choose if you want to play as the boy or the girl (Claude, Rena) it has a simular sytem of item creation as Star ocean till the end of time, but I'm yet to finish it so I dunno if the boss if hard yet.

Fable 2 and Saints Row 2 both have easy final bosses.
@Dobserver@xanga - Did you use those ultimate weapons?
@brainandpinky - hmm yeah i had like one or two...
