  • How Do You Like Your Boxing Games?

Games always come in two's. For DJ Hero, there is Scratch. For inFAMOUS, there was Prototype. Now you've got two boxing games that will be competing for your affection and savings.

In the red corner, we have Punch-Out, a reboot of the franchise designed for the Nintendo Wii. The game features a lot of rival boxers from the original Nintendo game and seems to cater to the old Nintendo crowd: simple controls and cartoonish displays.

In the blue corner, we have Fight Night Round 4, EA Canada's stab at the realistic boxing game, which of course features classic boxers and more real-world physics. According to Ryan McCaffrey of Official Xbox Magazine, "You will get punched in the face, and you will love it."

Both games are well-reviewed by critics, but to say the games are the same would obviously be erroneous. You might have both games, but for those of us who are being selective about things, the battle might come down to whether or not you like your games true to life or not. So, we at HardestLevel ask:

Punch-Out or Fight Night? And do you prefer it because it's more or less realistic?

Fight Night Round 4 is amazing! Totally different than the 3rd. Total new game engine and plenty of stuffs for boxing fans.

Yes, but for the sheer thrill of flailing your arms like an idiot, Punch-Out!! is good fun.

Punch-Out is a classic and will always have a special place in my heart as it occupied many hours of my youth - but Fight Night takes the cake. While I prefer some old school games to new ones (Tecmo Super Bowl > Madden), Fight Night Rounds 3 and 4 have just been awesome games...and now Fight Night has Mike Tyson!

They’ve also improved a bunch of shit form
the last one – the corporate ads aren’t as omnipresent and annoying,
the game play has less of a pre-determined feel to it, and they
actually have some cool music (rad remixes of Tokyo Police Club’s “The
Baskerillve’s” and El-P’s “Flyentology” amongst others).

It still kinda sucks to play online because most of the gamers are
just random button mashers who over-punch instead of trying to fight
realistically, but if you play with friends that actually know about
boxing than this game is fun as hell…you can easily emulate Ali’s
    rope-a-dope or Tyson’s peek-a-boo styles.

Anyway thought I’d share a gameplay video of Mike Tyson vs. Winky Wright that I found. Check it out here.

i havent played fight night round 4 yet but i have played round 3 and still think its one of the best games on the xbox360, playstation2, or even maybe other systems. ive seen some videos of fight night and it looks even better than the last one. im gonna have to side with fight night. i like them realistic and you cant get anymore realistic than that.

i also grew up playing punch-out but i never really enjoyed it that much. maybe its because my friend always gave me the broken controller when we played but even so i never really cared to play it.

Punch out is awesome, but I generally don't play boxing games.
