Gamespy has recently gotten their hands on some new L4D2 info including new items, new maps, and a new special infected. I know the game has stirred up some significant controversy, but I for one fully support it. It's Valve guys, give 'em the benefit of the doubt. Anyways, check out the new features below as well as some preview videos from Gamespy below.

First off we have Swamp campaign, the only one that starts off during the night. The premise is that the survivors journey into the bayou in hopes of finding an isolated community rumored to have refused aid from the military. It's here we're introduced to a new type of infected, "common-uncommons", as Valve call them. Basically level specific zombies that provide unique challenges depending on the scenario you're in. The Swamp has mud men: infected that run on all fours, making them quicker and harder to detect in the knee-deep waters. You may also remember the biohazard suit infected from earlier previews who are invulnerable to fire.

After sloshing around in the mud for a bit, you can expect to do some tense fighting in a bayou shanty town. An ultra-destructible environment, the shanty town provides some tense moments as your bullets as well as oncoming zombie hordes smash through the flimsy walls.

The newly revealed special infected is the Spitter. Capable of shooting a ranged attack mortar-style at the survivors, the Spitter creates an area of effect that damages players who stay in it. While the initial damage isn't to high, staying in the infected area to long is definitely not recommended. As with most special infected, the goal of the Spitter is to split the party up and you can definitely see the potential panic-factor when a big glob of devil-spit flies into a crowded room.

Finally, the new items, adrenaline and ammo packs, apparently replace pills and first aid kits. Adrenaline sounds like a real life-saver as it allows you to melee as much as you want and stops infected from slowing you down as you run past them.

Well that's about all I got to say. For more, check out Gamespy's exclusive preview here.
