I Knew Ratchet and Clank Was Addictive, But...
Courtesy of Press The Buttons
There's something about the Ratchet and Clank series for Sony's family of PlayStation consoles that keeps me playing "just one more level" to find the next special item, upgrade, or mission when I really should go do something more productive, such as eat or sleep. The folks over at GameFAQs.com must know of this addictive experience as well considering how the site truncates the title of the latest game, Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time, on the list of the top ten currently popular games in the site's PlayStation 3 division. When I think of all the possible ways to weed down the list of potential abbreviated titles, I realize there must be a method to their madness after all. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to play more Crack in the den. There's just something about this game that won't let me quit.

How often do you find yourself pulling the "just one more level" routine?

I'm a late-comer to the Ratchet and Clank series.
Ratchet and Clank - Tools of Destruction was the first game I played in the series.
I, too, found myself pllaying "just one more level". it's quite addicting.
I think good games have that quality to them. If the game is good enough to keep you playing, then you know you're playing a fantastic game.
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days has a mission setup; now, normally, I think this takes away a lot from other games that try a similar setup, but in 358/2, I found myself continuesly saying, "Just one more mission/just finishing this set of missions, then I'll go to bed!"
The night I beat the game I simply couldn't go to bed due to this, so I stayed up playing till 8am. Suffice it to say, it's a great game.
I'm about to do that to myself (and I really can't afford it now), because I'm starting Dragon Age.
Games that have done it to me in the past are Street Fighter, Nethack, SNES RPGs (I beat Secret of Mana in one sitting), Diablo, Civilization, the Total War games, the Elder Scrolls games, and a few others. That's a really large list :p.
I'm still playing Going Commando... Ratchet and Clank is just so addictive. I got all the skill points and still can't stop.
I do the "just one more song/level/quest/whatever" thing ALL the time. I'm getting better at resisting now, though.
<3 Ratchet & Clank. Nothing else to say on that. CRACK (ROFL) is particularly challenging too. I can't wait to try it on CHALLENGE mode.
