In a
previous post, we discussed games that would be good to use to introduce a female non-gamer in your life to video games. Here are some games that, with a few exceptions, might turn your friend off to games forever (and just plain make her mad at you).
Starcraft: I love Starcraft. You love Starcraft. Your girlfriend likely won't. It's a lot of micromanagement, and even if she feels confident enough after playing singleplayer to go online, there is a 99% chance she will get her ass handed to her in 5 minutes. Wait for Starcraft 2 to come out to re-learn it, together.
CounterStrike and other FPS: This is pretty hit or miss; she'll either be interested or overwhelmed. My boyfriend introduced me to CS my freshman year of college, and I ended up interested in it, joined a clan, and became pretty good. However, I only play Gungame Deathmatch, because if I'm playing a game where I run around and shoot people, I don't want to have to think about the other stuff like guns and levels and whatnot. However, while I like CS, I loathe Halo. It's annoying, I can't get the hang of it, so forget it. Unless you know your girl likes guns, it might be better to skip this genre.
Sports games: Unless your girlfriend really likes sports, don't bother. Even if she does like sports, it might not be worth the time. I like hockey. I have liked one hockey game, and it was for the Sega Genesis. I don't even understand why people keep buying all these games every year; they can't be that different from each other, what the heck! Try Wii Sports with your girl instead.
And the number one game not to play with your girlfriend...
DoA Extreme Beach Volleyball: I don't need to explain this one, do I? This one will get you a slap in the face and a slammed door.

lol i only hate being "watched" when i am brand-new to a game. obviously, it takes a few tries to get the hang of it, and i feel like a real failure if i die or something in front of my BF. lol idk. i just don't like it. its ok once i've sort of learned the feel for the game.
My girlfriend and I love playing Left 4 Dead. I'm one hell of a lucky guy.
Hm..I'm gonna have to disagree with FPS.
I love FPS and I love playing against my boyfriend in FPS, mainly Halo 3 and MW2.
I personally think it's the best genre out there.
Dating Sim games. Don't play it when you get to the "juicy" parts. (Surprisingly, my gf loves dating sims)
That last one is definitely a big no, if it's with a guy I'm just starting to go out with.
@democrab@xanga - i just played left 4 dead 2 with my boyfriend tonight! it was awesome except for the fact that i kept accidentally shooting him for some reason. lol and when he got frustrated and threw his controller down it bounced up and smacked me haha

Aha, I played that DoA just to get an achievement in it. It actually became kind of fun after awhile. I like the dress up! Kasumi ftw. =]
Also, the jetskii racing was hard. But if that's up there, why not include Bikini Samurai Squad with it? Lol my boyfriend hated it.
Don't play the last one unless you have been dating her for a while, and she just think it is funny.

COmpletley disagree with not playing FPS. I fuking LOVE playing FPS with my fiance.
just dont play games with your SO if u end up fighting , being too competitive and sore losers..or if u both dont agree with it.. Simple as that... Doesnt matter if its ur Gf or Bf. ... WHy is it so focused on the girlfriend.
Some games I would LIKE to play with my Guy but hes simply not interested or doesnt like them Like i do.. Such as Multiplayer RPGs with a long storyline.. like Final fantasy, or tales of symphonia. WHy isnt it the OTHER way around eh?
We play many different types of games, but some are not played just due to the individual choice and tastes. NOT about our genders.

I wouldn't mind playing sports or war games with my BF, I find it fun. It's time with him... so yeah. :]

Starcraft was one of my first games aside from Fall Out. Man now I have to get Doa extreme beach volleyball. XD

Aww, I'm a girl and I like DoA Xtreme Beach Volleyball. But well, I would be slightly offended if this is the first game a guy introduces me. Luckily, I'm already a gamer so it won't bother me if I was the only one who plays it. Since I won't play this game with a guy =p
