Put down the controller, son.
The woman called around 2:30 a.m. early Tuesday after her son was playing Grand Theft Auto, walking around the house, and turning on all the lights. Two officers went to the house and eventually convinced the kid to get to bed.
While I agree that what he was doing was annoying, the mother needs to learn to control her kid! The police don't need to be called because your child won't go to bed because he's playing video games all night. Cut the power to the TV, put the controller in a lock box, and make the kid go to bed. Unless little Junior is playing a shooter with the surround sound on full blast, windows open so it sounds like there's a mob shootout happening in the neighborhood, this is a parenting issue, not a police issue.
Have you ever bothered your parents with your gaming? What did your parents do to make you go to bed if you were up late playing games?

Ugh...I'm a 23 year old adult and my parents bug me about my gaming constantly, even when I haven't played in days. >.< I totally agree that this is a parenting issue, I can't stand it when parents blame their child's behavior on a video game, or whine that their child "won't" stop playing. Take the console away after so long, or in the case of games like WoW, use the parental controls, that's what they're for.
My parents are bothered by my gaming because it's apparently "anti-social" to want to be left alone every once in a while instead of being surrounded by people every second of the day. *grumble*
my parents pay my bills, put food on the table and give me a place to live.. as long as I have these conveniences, I feel the only thing I can do to repay them is atleast listen to them when they want to control my schedule and do my gaming when they're not around.
Parents these days... need some parenting themselves.
in the words of my parents
Parents: Dont make me take away that Nintendo
Me: Its a Playstation Dad/Mom
either way threatening to take it away seemed to work for me on some things except for doing well in school. that was a different situation.
I play video games once a month and also never owned a console until a year ago. I also moved out in August, so I don't think they can complain much about it.
Yea. What happens if there is a REAL emergency why the police are dealing with this? I pay taxes for police to deal with lawbreakers... crime, drugs, fraud, violence. Somebody needs to chat with this parent, preferably a judge.
Wow uh, it's not that hard to find a way to take it away or something. How ridiculous.
If my dad gets annoyed with it, he tells us not to play "until further notice." Somehow, that worked...
Mom was letting a 14 year old play GTA.
Mom doesn't think to pull a plug or something on the game.
Mom ends up wasting cops time.
Mom needs someone on her case.
When did the police become an emergency nanny service?
Shit. That's beyond pathetic, that parent should be embarrassed she even resorted to authorities to take care of it.
It makes me sick
That mother has just made herself the laughing stock of her community. This is possibly the worst thing I've ever seen. My mom would take the controller away or refuse to drive me places if I wouldn't stop. There is such a thing called a "Save" option in just about all games. Use it. My mom would just tell me, "Just save the game, you can come back to it later" which worked because hey, maybe it's just me, but logic was always the best way to get me to adhere to any rule.
My mother flipped breakers and wore me out. It tended to get the message across to me.
lolol fail parenting.
If I was 14, playing video games and a cop came to me and told me to stop, I'd laugh and ask him to play with me.
i love how most parents don't know nothing about games and just blame everything on games for why their children turned out to be so bad.
Im only nagged at when I HAVE to wake up in the morning so pretty much I will get a "you wont join us" or "no coffee and donuts for you" and its a daily ritual for me to drink coffee every morning which I only allow myself to do so at times 4am to 10 am. I guess they use reason why I should stop and usually it works, what does killing a guy without weapons give me in real life? oh well zzzzzz
Maybe the kid was so engrossed in Niko Bellic's life that he just had to know more.
Why don't parents complain about reading, it's as disturbing and anti-social as anything you might do at odd hours.
Sometimes pulling all nighters with gaming, have been the best nights of my life and I've been around.
its futile debate with my mom about me and gaming...this is waaaaaay too far though
her house, her rules yes but then I let her use ALL MY APPLIANCES...that's another story
and aren't you gamers in the US strict with your ESRB Ratings or is it still subject to the parents??
This story isn't as bad as the mother who called the police because her daughter wouldn't stop crying and then had the police taze her.
The to-the-point flaw to those stories are bad parenting. Why are parents being so lazy nowadays?
yes am agree with your opinion laytexduckie..
now parenting only using babysitter..child is hunger of their parents love..

LMAO, thats hilarious, but yeah, the cops? really? go over there and unplug his @$! if he plugs it back in, take the controller, & if all else fails, cut the cord! but the cops? they should arrest you for callin them for somethin like this
And also, the kid probably doesn't respect them enough to listen... if your dumb enough to call the cops on the kid, can you blame them for a respect issue?
NEWSFLASH: Stupid people do stupid things.
I think this is ridiculous. And I think you can't tell me when to stop playing video games, sorry. I could be doing much worse things.
My father was the kind of man who would tell me and I'm quoting... "What makes you think you were always an only child?"
