Letter from the Editor: A New Year, A New Decade, A New Beginning

Dear readers, fans, casual observers, haters, extraterrestrial beings observing our planet for signs of intelligence and all other concerned parties,

Over the months that I've been editor, I've been very proud of the work output we've had as a site, from both staff and users. However, while HardestLevel will continue to exist in its current form, no further updates will be made to the site. This will not affect current accounts with our site, and you can still access previously posted content. I should remind you you can access these existing posts by tags related to your top areas of interest or by contributor.

And now what about video game blogging on the Xanga Network? Is it, pardon the pun, Left 4 Dead? Thankfully, no. Mancouch will very soon be featuring a tab for gaming content, much in the way Lovelyish has its Beauty, Advice and Style Court tabs. The current HardestLevel staff will still be writing for this new tab. For the sake of a video game analogy, it's like pressing the reset button on your console, or perhaps better yet, like playing a game on a newer-gen system that has backwards compatibility. There still will be a haven for video game blogging on Xanga!

I'd like to give my thanks to everyone I've worked with, if you're reading: Alex, Andrew, Jim, Justin, Konrad, Matt, Tanner, Tiffany, Tim and Yuliya. I'd also like to thank the dragon and the knights for being faithful mascots to our little webpage. We really should've given you fellas names, now that I think of it. Finally, and most importantly, all of us at HardestLevel would like to thank all of you readers and contributors who supported our site, our writing, and made it into a community. After all, that is the essence of sites like Xanga: the community.

In all, thanks for the memories and I hope you'll continue to keep writing and supporting all the destination sites, including our new home. May you have a Happy New Year, a Happy New Decade, and may you never stop gaming.

Sad but true. That's really a surprise to me. It seems to further cement the incorrect idea that video gaming is a MAN thing.
Best of luck in 2010 over there. I'm glad we're not GONE entirely.

wow, it was real nice of them categorize video games with man stuff.
I will always maintain that they had women in mind when they designed Snake's ass and when Link took his tunic off in Twilight Princess.
I hope the true HL gets resurrected sometime in the future.

This makes me sad. At least there is still a gaming corner, though its a shame it's on Mancouch. Not that I don't like the site, it's just that the idea that gaming should be generalized with guys and not girls somewhat irks me.
Well, thanks HL for giving me a place to wander through entertaining posts, which kept up both my Xanga and gaming spirit, and reminded me why I enjoyed blogging and video games so much. That there are people my age who don't think it's silly to be excited about new game releases and what not. Thank you for letting me have my two cents, letting my voice/odd gaming rants heard, which next to never really happened before I came across this site.

HAHAHAHA! Man Joe, did you fail this site something fierce. If you're proud of what this site has churned out, then you're really as lousy an editor as I had you pegged for. This all could've been avoided if you had done your job, rather than stroke your ego and essentially piss on the entire gaming community.

HL was doomed to failure the day you were hired, and I'm glad to see it go. Just a smooth move having a Xister site for MEN host the Gaming Xister site. Nothing says "Joe" like "sexism".

Farewell, HardestLevel. A Xister site that failed. HARD. -snickers-

I would love to see you try and run the site. Too bad the opportunity would never fall into your hands. We're all lucky for that.
Sad to see someone waste their time e-bashing someone they don't even know. Sad to see HL leave as well, but now the person above will have to find someone else to annoy.
Enough giving you the attention you obviously don't deserve. This isn't about you anyway.

@imsweetandspicy@xanga - And you are? This site would've actually succeeded if I was in charge. I'd've brought on a large series of GOOD writers and editors to wade through the posts, and tailor it towards the ACTUAL userbase this site once had. The hardcore gamers. The people who want fresh news, not rehashings of classic games. I'd also feature articles about recent gaming studies, and the newest findings from psychological studies. Not only that, but I'd get articles in on the latest (anti)gaming laws being pushed forth, and the efforts to either support or combat them, based on stance.
So you can try and trash me all you wish, but this site failed because gamers and writers like me were discluded in favour of whiny, casual morons like you. Joe has alienated all of the good members and contributors, and look where it got him. I don't have to know him to bash his shitty work. As an editor/writer myself? I outclass him in both quality AND content.
